Privacy Policy

What we collect

PicWhim does not ask for an account, an email address or a name. You use the generator anonymously.

To keep your creations together we set a session cookie in your browser. It holds a random identifier and nothing that identifies you as a person. Clearing your cookies, or using another browser, starts a new and empty session.

When you upload a photo we receive the image itself, along with the choices you make on the page - for example the look you picked.

How we use your photo

Your photo is used for one thing: to produce the Halloween image you asked for.

To do that, the photo is sent to a third-party AI image provider that performs the generation. That provider processes the image on our behalf.

We do not sell your photos, and we do not use them to train our own models. We do not put your photo in the public examples on this site - those slots stay empty until we have generated real output to show there.

Camera and location metadata

Photos taken on a phone often carry hidden metadata with them - the location the shot was taken, the camera model, the time. We remove that metadata when the photo is uploaded, before it reaches the generator, so sharing a result does not reveal where you live.

How long we keep your photos

Storage here is temporary by design. Nothing you upload stays on our servers indefinitely: a scheduled job deletes each file once its window below has passed, and once a file is deleted it cannot be recovered by you or by us.

If you want to keep a result, download it before its window closes.

  • The original photo you uploaded: about 24 hours.
  • A free generated result: about 7 days.
  • A paid generated result: about 30 days.

Who else processes your data

Running the service means a few other companies process data on our behalf: an AI image provider (your photo, to generate the result), a payment provider (your payment details when you buy a pack - we never see your card number), and the hosting, storage and error-reporting providers that keep the site running.

We do not sell your data to anyone.

Analytics and error reports

We record a small number of usage events - for example, that a page was viewed or a generation started - and error reports when something breaks, so we can tell what is working and what is not. These records do not include your photos.

Your choices

Only upload a photo you have the right to use. Do not upload photos of other people unless you have their permission, and do not upload photos of children unless you are their parent or guardian or have their consent.

If you would rather not have a session cookie, you can still use the site, but your creations will not be grouped together and you will not be able to reopen them from My Creations.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
